Path Integrals

Path integration is one of the most confusing concepts I have encountered so far. I keep hearing that it is not well defined, yet we clearly use it in a lot of cases that make sense. The idea here is to get an overarching picture of what type of thing this tool is, and why is it the right thing to be relevant in QFTs.
